Taco John’s - Potato Olé Maniacs / Preston Kelly

We could call this project the kitchen sink site of API’s for this year with YouTube, Flickr, Facebook, Twitter & ExactTarget all being used. There are probably a few others that I'm forgetting at the moment...

This site was launched in stages, with the codebase finalized before the launch of the first section, the Stacking Video’s feature. Viewers are encouraged to upload their own videos of the potato-cult game of seeing who can stack the most Potato Olé’s on top of each other. Users can upload their video to the site, then it competes to be the most popular video against other uploads. The second section to launch was the Olé To Frolé feature. This area encouraged visitors to upload a photo and "Frolé" themselves, replacing their hair (or whatever else they wanted) with a Potato Olé. The visitor uploads their ‘new do’ to TJ’s Flickr gallery, then the visitor can tweet it or post it to their Facebook gallery & wall. Finally, a visitor can be their own editor for the local news regarding their favorite starchy snack and share that with their friends on Twitter or Facebook.

Technology: Flash ActionScript3, XML, GAIA Framework, and a variety of API's
