Northwest Airlines / Riley Hayes
Over the course of about a year, Riley Hayes and I teamed up to produce a rather comprehensive set of demo's on how to book a ticket online. The project itself was rather interesting, yet slightly daunting since this Flash project involved 16 versions across 7 different languages, including a mix of five spoken Asian languages & four written Asian languages. There were complementary English versions produced for each language, as well as English versions produced for many other destinations that NWA fly's to.
The project as a whole was built to run off of one main template Flash file, with different parameters pushed into that template to determine what language it needed to load. For each of the languages specified, the template would load the on-screen text for that language, a specific font to render the written language in, and a set of voiceover tracks for the spoken language we were using, then tie it all together in the template file.
Some of the features needed weren't available in ActionScript 2, so numerous items were added including building a method to load dynamic fonts at runtime with foreign language support available to every language that was needed. All-in-all, it was a fun learning experience and definitely kick-started any lack of coding experience I may have had at the time.
